Counselling for adults, in Henley and online

A quiet hour to talk, with someone who listens.

I am a counsellor in private practice. I work with adults on anxiety, grief, low mood and the weight of big changes, in a calm room near the river or online.

About

I came to counselling late, and I have never wanted to do anything else.

I worked in publishing for fifteen years before I trained. I have been in practice in Henley since 2008.

I am an integrative counsellor. In plain words, I draw on more than one way of working and fit it to you, not the other way round.

I see adults, one to one. I am accredited, I have regular supervision, and what you tell me stays between us, within limits we agree at the start.

You do not need to know what to say. Most people begin by saying they are not sure where to start.

What people bring

Some come with one clear thing. Many come with a feeling they cannot yet name. Both are fine.

  • Anxiety and worry

For when worry runs the day, or the night.

  • Grief and loss

After a death, a diagnosis, or an ending nobody else sees.

  • Low mood

For a long flat stretch, or a sudden drop you cannot explain.

  • Change

Retirement, divorce, a move, children leaving home.

  • Relationships

With a partner, a parent, or yourself. I see individuals, not couples.

  • Work and stress

When work has taken more than its share of you.

What to expect

What to expect

From the first call to the last session

Nothing is decided until you are ready, and you can stop at any point.

  1. Step 1: A free first call

Fifteen minutes on the phone. You tell me a little about what brings you, and ask me anything you like.

  2. Step 2: A first session

Fifty minutes. We talk about what you want from counselling and agree how we will work together.

  3. Step 3: Regular sessions

Usually weekly, at the same time. Most people come for between six and twenty sessions. You decide when to stop.
